Belly Cross

Mark Peterson at Cornwall

Mr. Marko, the granddaddy of the Bellingham 'cross scene, is bringing back one of his favorite courses just for this special Halloween occasion.

Situated right in the center of town, this beautiful city park is a northwest classic and the varied course layout rarely disappoints.

Back to the future or is it the past? Either way BellyCROSS is back to its birthplace of Cornwall Park right here in the town of BELLY (or Bellingham as it has been called by the prim and proper).

The course is situated in a great city park and offers all types of terrain that make for classic cyclocross racing. Equal parts grass, gravel paths, dirt and pavement ensure the course has something for everyone (less the triple spiral of death from last year).

We’ll also be setting up the Mini-BELLY course for the little ones so they can have just as good as time as the adults so bring the chitluns along to share in the good times.

Easy access right off the freeway for the out of towners and within a nice warm up bike ride on the greenways or brand new Cornwall Avenue bike lane for the locals.

Great restaurants (Bandito’s Burritos) and beer Boundary Bay Brewing Company are the perfect way to cap off a day of high intensity fun.

Be there or be square - and bring your costume so you can give it a test run for the Trick or Treat week of Halloween.

DIRECTIONS: Cornwall Park is off Meridian St. just south of Bellis Fair Mall.

Easy access off I-5 - from either direction, take the Guide Meridian exit 256A (not the Bellis Fair ramp). Head south on Meridian to the next set of stoplights (1/2 mile).

There are two entrances on the left just past Birchwood Ave. Take the second left to access the center of the course and registration. The first left is park headquarters, a playground, and public restrooms.

Alternate parking is indicated on the course map above - a rear park entrance at Indiana and Cornwall, an elementary school on Coolidge, and a couple medical buildings on Birchwood/Squalicum Ave.

The map address is 3428 Meridian St, Bellingham, WA 98225

From Vancouver, you can take I-5 from the Peace Arch or Truck Crossing. Alternatively, take 1 to Hwy. 13 (264th) to the sometimes lightly visited Aldergrove border crossing. Drive straight down Meridian about 25 km until you cross under I-5, then follow the directions above.
